The Apprentice Level of the Federation Wing Tsun System consists of four training Stages, each containing three Grades. Click on any stage to proceed to the contents of each student grade.
Foundation Stage
White Uniform
All fundamental tools, theories & concepts are introduced, along with the primary strategies of Evasion, Disengagement, and Counterattack versus the six Basic Attacks and their many combinations. It usually takes around one year for students to complete the three grades (1-3SG) within this stage satisfactorily. More...
Basic Stage
Grey Uniform
The secondary strategy of Engagement is introduced & applied to all Basic Attacks. The more sophisticated Bridging Attacks are introduced, trained and subsequently overcome via the now-familiar primary strategies. The student learns to handle a greater range of tools, and to combine them when necessary to achieve a common purpose. Intermediate Stage
Blue Uniform
All basic attacks, bridging attacks, primary strategies and secondary strategies are combined freely, and the strategy of Engagement at the long-to-mid range is explored in much greater depth & detail. All the tools are sharpened & applied with a greater level of co-ordination, precision, economy & subtlety. It usually takes at least one further year for students to complete the three grades (7-9SG) within this stage satisfactorily. More...
Advanced Stage
Black & White Uniform
The tertiary strategy of Attack is introduced & trained versus all basic & bridging attacks and their variations. The strategy of Engagement at the mid-to-short range is trained, and all previous strategies, concepts & tools are blended freely and applied with power, intention & fighting spirit. For this reason the advanced apprentice stage is also named the Fire Stage, the first of the five element stages in Federation Wing Tsun. It usually takes at least one further year for students to complete the last three grades (10-12SG) within this stage, and thus the whole Apprentice Level satisfactorily. More...
