Master Benno Westra Visits UKKFF, 26th August 2006

In August 2006 we were very pleased to welcome Master Benno Westra back to the UKKFF for a day of instruction & small-group student tutorials. We first met Master Benno back in March when he came to London to teach in support of the UK Kung-Fu Federation's inaugural seminar, and since then we have remained in contact, exchanged communications regarding the development of both our organisations within the Alliance, and further strengthened our bond of friendship. Master Benno was eager to share some of his developments in WingTsun with UKKFF students, and LPH was glad of another opportunity to train & learn from a certified master of Kung-Fu.
Master Benno and LPH trained for a few hours in the morning, then as the day progressed we welcomed a small-group of our students along for a tutorial of Chi-Sao applications. The HQ training rooms were buzzing as Master Benno flitted between everyone, touching hands, explaining his concepts, and generally throwing people around. Great fun! Many of Master Benno's training ideas are totally different from things we have seen before, but this is the great strength of the Alliance - shared knowledge and individual developments in the martial arts. The UKKFF is free to accept or reject anything we see, but we will always keep an open mind and train! Of course our students loved Master Benno's ideas, and are eager to see more of his developments in the future.
The following day LPH drove to visit Master Benno at another location, and spent another few hours training his concepts of the WingTsun Biu-Tze Chi-Sao. The time flew by as it always does when you're enjoying yourself, and in no time it was time to part once more. The UKKFF has plans to attend the UCT Summer Camp in Spain later in the year, so watch this space for more reports on what we are up to, both in the UK and abroad.
