School History

Kingston-Upon-Thames is an historic market town situated on the river between Richmond & Thames Ditton. The Federation head instructor Lee Paul Heron opened his second Kung-Fu school here in 2002, shortly after he started teaching as a full-time profession. For almost two years the classes were located in Market House (the beautiful Tudor building in the Apple Market which also holds the local tourist information centre) however the school slowly grew beyond the available space.

In November 2003 we relocated to our current venue in the Upper Studio of the United Reformed Church in Kingston town centre. We are right next to Eden Walk shopping centre and directly opposite The Works nightclub. Entrance to the class is via the atrium automatic doors, then take the lift (or walk upstairs) to the top floor - we're in the big room straight through the doors & to the right.

The Kingston school currently offers General Classes in Chinese Kung-Fu at all experience levels. In November 2005 the school gained a dedicated assistant instructor, and in August 2006 we added an Escrima Concepts session to help those students who choose to study both the unarmed & the armed arts with us, however by 2007 the weapons class had outgrown the venue, and is now a weekly session at our more spacious Chessington school.

Facilities

This venue benefits from a very central location and has a good training area, large wooden floors & toilets. The church had a refit in 2005 and now has a very classy lobby and atrium, and in Jan 2007 they finally redecorated our training room. Local students are well situated to use our headquarters in New Malden, and have good cross-training opportunites at the Wimbledon, Chessington & Ewell schools.
