The following General Classes are currently available at the Chessington branch of the Federation:
School History
Chessington is a Surrey town situated between Leatherhead and Kingston-Upon-Thames. It is well known for Chessington World Of Adventures, a family theme park operated by the Tussauds Group. The town also has an excellent college-owned Sports Centre which has been home to a UK Kung-Fu Federation school since July 2002. This was the third school opened by the Federation head instructor Lee Paul Heron after he chose in early 2002 to teach the martial arts as a full-time profession.
Steady growth obliged us to extend our class times in 2003 and offer a dedicated weekly intermediate session too. In early 2005 we increased training time again as the class continued to grow. In November 2005 the school gained it's first dedicated assistant instructor. In 2006 we began a small regular session in Escrima Concepts for those students who study both the armed & unarmed arts with the Federation, and by 2007 this had grown to become a full weekly class in it's own right. We also use the large Sports Centre hall for events & seminars each term, especially for weapons which often require lots of space.
Facilities
This venue benefits from a large training areas indoors (and outdoors too in the summer months) ground matting, and excellent toilet/changing facilities. There is also a lot of free parking onsite, and a nice lounge for relaxing in after a class or seminar. Chessington Community College were awarded Sports College status in late 2004, and after a lot of hard work by the staff, the venue has greatly improved facilities & equipment accordingly. In 2007 a £23M renovation began, which means our facilities will have improved still further by the end of 2008.
Local students are also well situated to take advantage of cross-training opportunites, such as our HQ in New Malden, and schools in Ewell, Kingston-Upon-Thames & Wimbledon too.
