Starting Out With Private Tuition
Home / About Us / Prices / Private Tuition / Starting Out
Sooner or later every serious student of the martial arts comes to realise that the General Class environment can only satisfy part of their training needs. Classes provide lots of different partners to practice your material with, social interaction, cameradarie, and a shared sense of progress as you move up with your own group through the different grades, stages & levels of your chosen art. However the general class cannot provide personal, tailored instruction for the specific needs of an individual - only private tuition can do this.
If a student is unable or unwilling to attend general classes (perhaps due to shift work or family commitments) there is always the possibility to become a Private-Only student. This is the traditional way to learn ANY martial art and it's still a great way to study. However for the most complete development of a student we recommend attending classes on a regular basis PLUS a regular monthly, or bi-weekly private lesson.
We would like as many students as possible to reap the benefits of regular private instruction, so we keep prices low & offer plenty of choice. Hopefully you'll find an option which suits you.
One-To-One
The most common choice. At least 1 hour of tuition with your own instructor in your chosen art. Get your own problems highlighted & resolved, and receive bespoke instruction tailored to your needs. Prices are per-hour and payable before the lesson starts.
Two-To-One
Growing in popularity. At least 1.5 hours of training for you & your training partner with your own instructor in your chosen art. This option has many benefits, not least that both of you receive the same information & can practice together in the future, helping each other to progress. Two heads are better than one! Prices are still per-hour, so the cost is split between two of you. Please note however that two-to-one sessions are for a minimum of 1.5 hours.
Small Groups
Three or more students for 1.5 hours or more. Perhaps a few of you in your grade group want to get together for some extra instruction? This option is very useful for spreading the cost of private lessons, helps bonding within a group and can be much simpler to arrange than three identical lessons for each member of the group. Prices are still per-hour for a minimum of 1.5 hours.
