1: What are General Classes?
General Classes are group training environments for one of our primary martial arts (Kung-Fu or Escrima).
2: Where & when do General Classes take place?
General Classes take place at our local venues on weekday evenings, usually after 19.30. All UKKFF locations except the New Malden HQ offer General Classes, so there are plenty of clubs to choose from. (Our HQ is set-up for individual private tuition or small-group instruction only). See the weekly class schedule for the current list of available classes.
3: How old/what age do you need to be to attend General Classes?
Our General Classes only accept students above the age of 15. If you are currently aged below 15, but will reach this age before the start of our next term, you are welcome to submit an application for the next free trial.
4: How much do General Classes cost?
Currently £45 per-month for unlimited training. Please see the general class prices page for full details. You can pay for either the current month of training, or the whole of the current term.
5: How are General Class fees calculated?
We calculate our class fees based upon the costs we incur during an entire term (3 months) of providing tuition. We appreciate that not everyone wants to, or is able to pay for a whole term in advance, so we divide this fee by 3 to arrive at a per-month price.
6: Can I pay for less than one month of General Class training?
No, one month is the minimum period you can pay for. If you can’t commit to at least one month of classes at a time, we suggest Private Tuition is your best option for regular training.
7: Is there a Pay-Per-Lesson option for General Classes?
No. See the answer above. Pay-per-lesson is only available for Private Tuition.
8: If I choose to stop attending General Classes, do I still have to pay?
No, we don’t do contracts. All members can cease training whenever they wish. However if you have attended any classes during the month you stop training, you will still be liable for that month’s class fees.
9: What is the duration of each General Class?
Each class is two hours (120 minutes) in duration. Some venues also run extra 30-minute practice sessions in our other primary discipline before the main class starts.
10: Who can attend General Classes?
Classes are open to all current UKKFF members who have paid tuition fees for the current period. If you’re a member, and you’ve paid for the current month, or the current term of training, you can just show up & get stuck in!
11: How many students attend each General Class?
Depending on the venue and the time of year, attendance at each class usually ranges from between 8-30 students at a time. Larger classes employ multiple instructors so that everyone still gets proper tuition.
12: Are your General Classes suitable for complete beginners?
Yes indeed, all our classes contain beginners. At the start of every term all our locations accept new beginners, and start them from the beginning of the training programme via our very popular four-week free trial.
13: How are General Classes split?
The total number of students present are usually grouped according to their experience. In any given class we will train general material for the entire group, more targeted material for your current stage of training, and also material which is syllabus-specific to your own individual grade too.
14: Can I attend General Classes at more than one location?
Yes. Current UKKFF members can attend General Classes at ANY & ALL our locations, as many times as they wish, for no additional fee. You pay for the current month, or current term, and train as much as you can.
15: Can I attend General Classes in Kung-Fu and Escrima at the same time?
Yes of course, as long as you have the correct membership level, and thus the correct insurance cover for all the training you do with us.
16: Can I train in Kung-Fu only for a while, then switch to Escrima only, and vice-versa?
Yes, although if you do this we recommend you don’t switch mid-grade. Train & complete one grade at a time in each art. Please remember though it’s absolutely no problem to train BOTH arts together if you wish. It’s no more expensive for you, and they are just two sides of the same coin.
17: Can I have Private Tuition as well as attending General Classes?
Yes of course. Train as much as you can!
18: If i’m having Private Tuition only, could I attend classes for a while to see what they’re like?
Yes of course. Start at the beginning of the next term, pay class fees for one month and see how you get on. Remember though you won’t get a FREE trial period, as you’re already a UKKFF member.
