Free Trial FAQ
This area contains answers to the most common questions we hear regarding the four-week free trial period we offer for our General Classes. If the question or answer you seek is not shown below, please don’t hesitate to contact us directly.
How old/what age do you need to be to attend a free trial period?
We only accept students above the age of 15 in our General Classes. If you are currently aged below 15, but will reach this age before the start of our next term, you are welcome to submit an application.
How much does the free trial period cost?
Nothing at all. As the name suggests, the free trial is completely free of charge.
Do I have to sign up to anything, or provide my credit card/bank account details?
Absolutely not.
How do I book my place on the next free trial, or a future one?
You can apply for a free trial here. This will take you about 1-2 minutes to do. You can apply for the next available term, or for any term up to a whole year in advance.
What happens after I apply for the free trial?
If we have the capacity to offer you a place, we’ll put your details on the waiting list for your chosen location, tell the instructor of that school to expect you, and add your email address to the mailing list for your chosen term. You’ll then receive full details of your first lesson via email, including what to wear, bring and expect. You’ll also receive a weekly countdown email until the day you begin training.
I’ve applied, but not heard anything yet. Do I have a place?
We usually answer all applications within 48 hours, but please be patient. We WILL let you know, but we do get very busy. You’re most welcome to contact us and check that we’ve received your application if you wish.
How long does a free trial period last?
Up to four weeks. Weeks 1-4 of each new term are free for new beginners who have booked a place at their local UKKFF school. If you attend right from Week 1 (the start of term) you’ll get the whole four weeks free. If you can’t make the first week and instead start in Week 2, you’ll then get the three remaining weeks free.
How many General Classes can I attend during the free trial period?
As many as you like. We don’t offer four free lessons, we offer four free weeks during which you can attend General Classes at ANY & ALL of our locations, as many times as you wish. We want you to fully evaluate our arts, our teaching, and our organisation, so attend & train as much as you can.
I don’t have a place. Can I just turn up during the enrolment period and start anyway?
No you cannot, sorry. We have a limited number of places at each location per-term, and if there are too many new students it’s not possible to teach everyone effectively. You’ll need to apply for a place and receive confirmation from us before you can expect to begin training. The only reason you won’t have a place is either: (1) You didn’t apply, or: (2) Your chosen term was fully booked up, in which case we’ll offer you a place on a future term.
I’ve got a confirmed place, but I can’t remember the date/time/location of my first class!
Don’t panic. Simply send a blank email to joinus@ukkff.org and our auto-responder will instantly reply will full details of the current free trial period, plus details of what to wear, what to bring, and what to expect.
I’ve got a confirmed place, but I missed my first lesson due to work/life/something. Can I start in Week 2?
Yes you can. We understand that such things happen, and so our lesson plans take this into account. However please understand that you’ll only get the three remaining weeks of the trial period free.
What if I miss BOTH of the first two weeks. Can I start in Week 3 or Week 4?
No you cannot, sorry. The enrolment period for each new term lasts for two weeks only. After this time all the other new beginners have already done about four hours of training, and you’ll have missed too much material for us to bring you up to speed during General Classes. You can always apply again for a future term, or begin a course of Private Tuition instead.
My circumstances have changed since I applied, and I can no longer use my place. What should I do?
Please contact us directly. We can move your application to a future term, or remove you from our database completely if you wish. Please DO let us know though – we are very popular and can easily give your place to the next person on the waiting list.
Do I have to join the UKKFF after the free trial ends?
If you wish to continue your martial arts training with us, then yes, you must join and become a member of our organisation. However if you decide not to continue, then you are free to leave with no obligations whatsoever. Our free trial is offered with absolutely no strings attached.
