Our Experience

No, sadly we won't teach you to do this. Our knowledge & experience makes for a clear distinction between reality and the media fantasy of the martial arts. Choreographed combat for stage & screen is a major discipline in itself, but knowing about reality can only help.

We have decades of experience. For more than 22 years, the instructors of the UKKFF have studied the martial arts with an extremely critical eye, and we test our knowledge constantly to see if what we know is actually correct. We don’t teach anything that we cannot prove the value of, and we are hard to convince. We don’t mind if you are, too.

We have been around for a while. Our instructors have previously trained seriously in Karate, Judo, Ju-Jitsu, Wu-Shu-Kwan, Tai-Chi, Kickboxing, Tae-Kwon-Do, Wing Chun, WingTsun, Ving Tsun, Historical Weapons, Grappling, HMPS & Police C&R techniques, Latosa Escrima, Escrima Concepts, White Crane Kung-Fu, plus several more esoteric arts too. We are proud to hold instructor ranks and high dan grades in many of these traditional styles & systems.

It’s not just martial arts either. We also understand the human body. Our instructors are experienced in various health & fitness disciplines including Qigong, Yoga, Pilates, Alexander Technique, Kettlebells, Clubbells, Circular Strength Training and Bodyweight Training too.

However, instead of recreating other peoples versions of the past, or copying the systems of others, we have chosen to use our experience to progress & develop our own path. Plus we have strong links with others in the UK and around the world who share our vision of the martial arts.

We know our history, we know the traditions of our arts & the cultural backdrop from which they arose. We know their strengths and we are working daily on their weaknesses. We have lots to teach you, and we ourselves have still more to learn.

In-Class Escrima Workshop

On Thursday 8th March 2012, we will be running a special in-class Escrima Workshop at UKKFF Kingston-Upon-Thames.

This event will take place between 20.00 – 22.00 during the usual Thursday evening Escrima General Class, and is open to all members who are currently studying Escrima with us.

The workshop will be led by Instructor Wayne Tappin 3TG, and will focus upon giving more detail upon the core syllabus of the Escrima Concepts Weapons System in preparation for the end-of-term assessments a few weeks later (on 24th March).

There is a £10 charge per-person for this workshop, which will reimburse Wayne for his tuition, his petrol, and his time in driving the 250-mile round trip from Clacton to visit us.

This fee may be paid in cash on the evening, or ideally in advance via debit/credit card using our event pre-booking service, which will save us time on the day.

We look forward to seeing many of our Escrimadors along at Kingston for a good session with Wayne.
